A word for the basses
Dick Voran weighs in with a word for the basses:
‘And He Shall Purify’ page 40 m. 50.
The first 4 notes in the bass line are more often sung incorrectly than correctly. Handel plays a little trick there and inverts the usual beat 1 pattern – many singers never get it. It’s probably not that noticeable in the grand scheme of things, but it is a problem area and has been every year. It will likely become apparent when we do sectionals.

Fantastic Work
Great concert tonight, choir!
It felt like we became a choir tonight . . . all on the risers, dressed, together, memorized music.
I was so proud and you did so well. I felt especially good about the Russian piece--very musical. The spiritual was powerful and a great beginning with the Weelkes piece.
Exhausted now . . . . and I'll see you Monday!
